THE BALL !!!!

The day which we were expecting finally had come. THE BALL!
I spent my day preparing for the night – make up, nails, haircut – everything had to be perfect. After all the preparations we didn’t see that we were a little bit late. So Yes we panicked! I put on my dress and went out of my home. When I got in school I was nicely surprised- everything was ready and the DJ was there.
When the ball started everything went well. There were dances songs and of course competitions J
My boyfriend and I had a magic night.

Charity sell

Оn 15th December my classmates  and I had to cell handmade things done with the technique of decoupage.
The price list was:
Little plates -2 lv
Glass - 3 lv
Bottle - 5 lv
Big plates - 3 lv

The money which we earn was for charity. I felt very happy, when I saw how much people wanted to buy our things. There were a lot of them buying plates and bottles for Christmas presents. I bought one plate too.

Visiting "Veneta Boteva"

On 20th December we went to the retirement home “ Veneta Boteva” . We gave Christmas presents to all of the people living there. My schoolmates from 8th grade did a great job – telling stories and playing song with piano and violin. After that we decided to go to the rooms in which live people that are not capable of going out. We gave them clock personally.
It was a sad thing to look at. I know that they are happy there, because they aren’t alone and they have different activities to do every day, but after this visit I’m more than sure that I will never let  to my  parents to  live in a place like this!

Decorating the school's hall

On 20th December we had to decorate the auditorium. Finally! My roommate and I made all of the decoration by ourselves in our apartment. In the begging this was a fun thing to do, but after a while I just hated it. I had to paint stars with red paint at -10 Degrees on our terrace – not very pleasant thing to do! The important was that all the things became very beautiful as you will see on the pictures.
So it was 20th and after our classes we went to the school’s auditorium. I found some boys from 8th grade to help us with moving the chairs away. Thank God that they helped us
We were starving so we ordered pizza. We stayed there till 6pm. It was so much fun. Decorating, singing dancing and being with your friends – things which make everyone happy. J
At the end I couldn’t recognize the auditorium. It was so beautiful !

:)

Merry Christmas to everyone :) Before a hour ago i watched a TV show called " The Bulgarian Christmas" It was for helping sick children. Everyone could send sms on 1117... The sum which was collected in the end was more than 1 million. I think that you could send sms now too..It will cost you only 1 lv ... It's christmas...help a child in need.

Volunteering

On 2nd December we were on a meeting about “European Volunteer corps”. I really liked the idea. I am participating in that kind of organizations for a couple of years. I’m member of our school’s charity club and the previous year I was a member of “Bulgarian Red Cross” in Veliko Tarnovo.
The meeting was interesting and useful. The next time when we will see each others will be in February.

2011 is the year of volunteering. Here are some facts about that: (I took them from http://ec.europa.eu/citizenship/focus/focus840_en.htm )

In the European Union, almost 100 million citizens of all ages invest their time, talents and money to make a positive contribution to their community by volunteering in civil society organisations, youth clubs, hospitals, schools, in sport clubs, etc. For the Commission, volunteering is an active expression of civic participation which strengthens common European values such as solidarity and social cohesion. Volunteering also provides important learning opportunities, because involvement in voluntary activities can provide people with new skills and competences that can even improve their employability. This is especially important at this time of economic crisis. Volunteering plays an important role in sectors as varied and diverse as education, youth, culture, sport, environment, health, social care, consumer protection, humanitarian aid, development policy, research, equal opportunities and external relations.

Objectives of the Year:

The EU will use the Year to work towards four main objectives:

1. To create an enabling and facilitating environment for volunteering in the EU;

2. To empower volunteer organisations and improve the quality of volunteering;

3. To reward and recognise volunteering activities; and

4. To raise awareness of the value and importance of volunteering.

The Commission expects that the European Year of Volunteering will lead to an increase in volunteering
and to greater awareness of its added value, and that it will highlight the link between voluntary engagement at local level and its significance in the wider European context.

The aim is to involve all levels – European, national, regional and local, but the emphasis is very much on a bottom-up approach. In this way the ownership of the European Year shall remain as much as possible with the volunteers and the volunteer organisations.

Activities:

There are many interested parties who are getting involved in the Year. The European Commission is also planning a range of activities. These include communication and awareness-raising measures (EYV Tour, EYV Relay, EYV Website, Thematic conferences).

Target groups:

- Volunteers (current and potential)
- Policy makers
- Civil society

Budget:

The budgetary authority (European Parliament and Council of the EU) granted a dedicated budget for the European Year of Volunteering, as follows:
European Year of Volunteering 2011: EUR 8 million.
Preparatory actions 2010: EUR 3 million

Chrismas decorations :)

1st December was an awful day. When I said awful I meant that it was really exhausting for me. In the afternoon ( 16.00 pm) we had to decorate for Christmas the school’s hall.  I had a headache after that!  There were students from 8th grade or as we call them “rabbits”. They helped us very much. After hour and a half the hall was looking great. It was worth it my headache. I felt really …. I don’t know how to say it… “Xmas” J
You can see on my photos that we had a lot of fun and the result was great.

World AIDS day

On 1st December my classmates and I went at school in 7.20 (before all of the other students) and we went to the main door in our school. We were giving condoms, brochures and ribbonsto our schoolmates and our teachers.

(The person who is not looking at the camera is me J )

World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. It is common to hold memorials to honor persons who have died from HIV/AIDS on this day. Government and health officials also observe the event, often with speeches or forums on the AIDS topics. Since 1995, the President of the United States has made an official proclamation on World AIDS Day. Governments of other nations have followed suit and issued similar announcements.
AIDS has killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007, and an estimated 33.2 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 2 million lives in 2007, of which about 270,000 were children. ( took from wikipedia)

AIDS

On 30th November when I got home I started to do stigmas for the 1st December which is World AIDS day. I felt really sad when I was doing the ribbons and though about the people who have AIDS.

The Red ribbon is a symbol for solidarity with HIV-positive people and those living with AIDS.

Charity Club

On 30th November we had Charity club meeting. It was really annoying for me because we were a lot of people and everybody was complaining, shouting and arguing. We had to organize the future things which we have to do until the end of December. I will take part in the town’s bazaar on 17th December. We will sell our handmade plates, bottles and glasses (with decoupage).
Except the noise our meeting went well and everyone has what to do in the next 2-3 week.

Feelings :)

The horse can indicate its own feelings in a number of ways and the ears are a good indication of what is going through a horse's mind.
Ears Alert and Forward
Ears pricked alert and facing forward indicate the horse is happy and interested.
Ears Flat Back
Ears laid flat back against the neck show the horse is unhappy or annoyed.
Ears Lowered
Ears lowered slightly to the sides show the horse is relaxed, bored or could indicate that it feels unwell.
Flickering Ears
Flickering ears indicate the horse is listening and attentive.

On 18th November a woman from the town’s newspaper ”Borba” took a picture of us. The article in the newspaper was about our decoupage plates.

P.S ( The price for one couvert is 20lv )

Christmas Charity Ball

On 18th November we had CAS meeting where we organized the ball. We had to make the invitations. They are awesome! Everybody said that those are nicer from the previous ones.
Another thing which we did was that we choose the decorations for the hall.
It will be GREAT ball !

Horses :)

On 13th in the morning was so cold that I even didn’t want to go out of my home but I had to because I had arranged a horse riding lesson. So my mum took me a ride to “Jivko” where my  tearcher lives. There was even colder because the village is high in the mountain.  When I got on the horse I didn’t feel cold any longer.  My teacher said that if I want we can go to a field where I can practice. I loved the idea so we went there. This time I tried different things : running slow and fast, practicing how to navigate the horse. It was really interesting.
On the next day – 14th I went again. This time I made jumps. It was really difficult for me, because It was my first time doing those kind of exercise. ( and It was a little bit scary ).After hours of practice at the end I made the perfect jump. My teacher said that if I practice more I will be very good at jumping. I can’t wait for my next lesson.

(this is not my horse, it's just a picture which i took from google)

"The ugly one"

I have always adored going to theater. From when I little kid every time when there was a theater play in my town I was the first to buy a ticket.
On 10th November I went to see another theater play, named “The ugly one” This was a great experience. The actors were great, especially Kalin Vrachanski, who were the main thing for which I went to see this theater. (He is famous Bulgaria actor who plays in my favourite film - "Glass home "). But when the play started I realized that no matter that he is playing the play would be great.  All of the actors (four) were playing not only one role but two. The effects, the decoration, the performance – everything was excellent!

I liked it very much. This is called a good theater play and I think that everybody should watch it and even the people who don’t like to go to theater would like it a lot.

Theater Play :)

On 8th November I went to see a theater play named “The iron candlestick”  in Veliko Tarnovo. The theater group was from Razgrad ( small city in Bulgaria) so I thought that they will have a great performance. In the end of the play I was so disappointed… The whole play didn’t have anything in common with the real book. The actors weren’t good enough too. But I don’t regret that I went because there were some good moments too.

Hello to everyone ! :) I didn't have internet for the last week and a half :( Sorry about that....

You can expect my new post later today ! :)

CAS meeting

On 4th October we had CAS meeting. We met in my favourite coffee. The weather was sunny and we sat outside in the garden. It was really nice. We discussed our next newspaper, but I won’t tell you about it because it’s going to be a surprise. We discussed the Christmas Charity ball too. We decided how our invitations will look like and some other stuff like if there will be dress code.  I can’t wait for 21st December. I hope I’ll find really beautiful dress.

Halloween

On 31st October we had our Halloween Party. It’s started at 9.30 but we all were preparing for it since 7.30. When I got out of my room there was a “thing” which scared me so much. It was one girl from 8th grade dressed like a green monster: D To be honest I think that it was really good costume and she was the most attractive one. After that we got downstairs where the party was.
Everyone was dressed in really nice, funny and even scary costumes. Two of my friends and I were dressed similar. We were killers with black dresses, high heels and of course guns.  We had “spookalicios “fun. Everything gone well, everyone liked our program and the games which we made for them.  If there will be party like this again I’ll definitely go!

GOOD NIGHT =) =) =)

VARNA

On 31st October we started our journey in 8.30 from the stadium”Ivailo”‘.  We were in Varna after 4 hours, full of jokes, laughing and chatting in the bus. Being in the bus is one of my favourite parts of every excursion.
When we get in Varna my friends and I went to the centre of Varna where we shopped for a while in shop called “New Yorker”. Unfortunately I didn’t buy anything. After that we stopped for hour to one restaurant called “Godzilla”. We had a lot of fun there.
On 1st November we though “We are in Varna, so we must go to the beach” and we did.  We took a lot of pictures there, although it was really cold.
As you can see on the pictures it was really beautiful.

Local Project :)

Well …this post is about our school local project – our newspaper called IB brochure (every month the name will be different). We printed it out on 26th October (Yeah I know that I was supposed to post it earlier but I totally forgot about it, sorry again). We printed out 50 copies but it turned out that they aren’t enough. So we printed 30 more. We sold them for minutes. To be honest I didn’t expect that my school mates will be that much interested. I’m so happy about that, because there were some moments when I was making my page when I just wanted to say “I won’t do this anymore”, but after that, when I was ready I felt really good.
We have some great ideas for our next newspaper, but I won’t tell you them! J

Sorting Clothes and decoupage

After Ms Petarcheva and I   chose the presents my classmates and I had to sort them on 28th October. We made our final changes about the Halloween party and sort presents for each competition. I felt very excited because I knew that all the kids will like the presents which we picked up for them.

After that we had to sort out all of the clothes, which our schoolmates had brought for the home for kids without parents – T.Turnovski in Veliko Tarnovo. There were so many clothes. I felt very pleased with the fact that a lot of students had brought something. We sorted the clothes and the toys for about hour and a half, but it I felt really good because I knew that I’m helping this kids.

On the same day I did some decoupage activity.
I lacquered my box and it was really fun thing to do although it was smelly.

Halloween Party

On 21st October my classmates and I discussed the organization stuffs about the Halloween Party. We talked about our costumes and we did some changes on the script. After that we took a look at the presents for the Halloween Party, which Ms.Petarcheva and I chose. It was really fun thing to do. We all eagerly expected the Halloween Party.

Discussing decoupage activities

On 14.10.2010 we had our CAS meeting in the school’s library. We talked about our boxes which we had to make with decoupage. Ms. Petercheva showed us her and explained how to make ours. It seemed to me a little bit difficult but very interesting. When I got home I made it and I turned out that it’s easy and relaxing. I enjoyed it very much.

DECOUPAGE

On 7th we went out for our CAS lesson. We visited a small shop for special decoupage stuffs. We picketed up different papers with Christmas motives.  My classmates and I are going to do plates with decoupage for Christmas charity sale. I liked the shop very much. It has so much different things and papers. I felt like I’m a little kid going for first time in shop for toys. … I will definitely visit it again.

INTERNATIONAL TEACHER'S DAY

The day after we baked the cakes we had to bring them to school. It was really difficult for me to bring all my textbooks and the huge baking dish full of the cupcakes in the same time. But somehow I got to school without dropping them. In the second school brake we went to the teacher’s room and greeted them for their holiday. They were very existed when we gave them the cupcakes. It was nice to hear that they really liked them. The teachers were so surprised that we had baked the cakes all by ourselves. All day long they were talking how good the cupcakes were.   After 5 hours hard work of baking cakes it was really great to hear” Good job, girls! “and to receive hugs and smiles from everybody. I’m really glad that we made their day a little bit different and made them to feel happy

.

CUPCAKES FOR INTERNATIONAL TEACHER'S DAY

5th October is the Teacher’s day. My classmates Radoslava and Hristina and I decided to bake cakes for the teachers in our school.
We got all together in my apartment on the 4th October with the mission to bake 60 little cakes.
It was such a fun doing all this 60 cakes but although it was a little bit annoying (when I was putting the 50th fortune!)  and exhausting . But I
think that all the work that we did was worth it because in the end we were baked 60 perfect cakes which were extremely tasty!

International Day of older persons

1sOctober is the International day of older persons. My schoolmates and I went to the “ Veneta Boteva” retirement home in Veliko Tarnovo. In the time I get there I felt happy in a strange way. The old people made e great performance. Some of the women were dancing Spanish dances and there were 3 men which were singing. Other was saying some poems written by them. My schoolmate Mirella greeted the people for their holiday and we gave them presents. But except the good feelings there was something which I didn’t like. The retirement home’s director had invited Cvetan Cvetanov (Bulgarian politic) which in my personal opinion made the whole holiday a little bit of showing off. But the important was that all of the people were feeling happy and special. I like the fact that we gave them a reason to smile.

SECOND HORSE RIDING LESSON :)

It was the morning of 2nd October. On this cold day I had my second horse riding lesson. The horse which I’m riding is called Elegant. He is so cute and gentle.

This time the teacher made me to do more difficult exercises than the previous time. In the begging I find it a little bit complicated but with all the help from Mr. Serafimov I learned it. He let me to ride the horse without any help. So I had the whole control of Elegant. In the end of the practice I was so exhausted but stimulated in the same time. The teacher said that I can become a perfect horse rider in the future. I just love the horse riding. I’m so glad that I chose this sport for my CAS activity.

Ceramic Club

We had our first Art class. I was really excited because I really like art and doing funny and interesting things. In this class we learned how to make plates using the tecnique of decaoupage. This is made by glying coloured paper or like in our case- napkins cutouts on different objects. We used plates and the results were amazing. If I had saw this plates somewhere I would never thought that this is a plate made with a napkin.  I'm looking forward for our next art class, because I had a lot of fun.

HORSE RIDING :)

It was the sunny Saturday morning of  25th September.  Place –village named Jivko.  In this wonderful morning it was my first horse riding lesson. I went there and met my teacher (Svetlin Serafimov). At first look it seemed to me that he is a nice person.  So the lesson started. I got on that beautiful horse and felt … free. I felt like I’m in another world where everything is so easy and peaceful. I’m looking forward to the next lesson which I hope is going to betomorrow J

First CAS meeting 16.09.2010

Our first meeting was in the library where we met our CAS teacher – Miroslava Petarcheva.  She gave us information about the IB program especially about the CAS hours. I was (and I still am) very excited.I love everything about the IB program. I think that the program offers me useful activities which will help me to become more confident about my abilities. And of course I’m sure that I will have fun doing all of the CAS activities.
