European Year of Volunteering

On 17th November we went to Sofia again. But this time with the International volunteer corps on meeting for all of the volunteer organizations in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian red cross was there too and they made a simulation and evacuated the whole national palace of Culture and showed how they act in this kind of situations. It was really cool and interesting. There were also many presentations and educational games. I just loved it J

Local Project

On 23rd November we started the making of our new newspaper. The main theme is about AIDS. We are going to sell it on 1st December , which is the International AIDs Day. This time we made it very quick and without arguing J We stick a condom on each paper. We had all kinds of information about AIDS. While reading the information I was shocked from the number of people who are suffering from this. So Be Safe !!!

Slavi's show

11.11.11 Finally! We went to the show. It wasn’t which I was expecting. The studio was so much smaller and broken :D Yes there were so many broken things which you can’t see on the TV. And there were a competition called “Beautiful and Smart”. There are different things which the girls had to do. It was not that bad but it was boring and the girls were definitely not that smart.:D . But the feeling was really great to see one of the most famous people face to face J

Sofia

11.11.11 We were finally in Sofia. We went to the Central Mall to eat. Some of us preferred to go shopping but my classmates and I went to a sushi bar to eat. After that we went to a museum. It was pretty boring , because there were only rocks and some kind of stones which I have already seen in other museum so for me it wasn’t that interesting.

The TRIP

11.11.11 Let the party begin!! We start our journey at 7.00 o’clock. I had really hard night because one of my favorite groups were in the town and I hadn’t slept. It was a looong trip. In the bus our teacher made us to sing. It was awful , because there was not a single person in the bus who can actually sing. :D

Making posters

On 9.11.11 – My classmates and I made some posters. We will be going to our capital city to watch one show, called “ Slavi Trifonof’s show “ which is very popular in our country. So we had to made posters. It wasn’t very fun while we were doing them. We messed up the paper but in the end they were pretty good. J

HORSE LESSON

20.10.11 – WOW!! My first horse lesson for this academic year. I was training through the whole summer so I didn’t forget anything. It was a little bit cold this time but when I got on the horse I felt just happiness. I learned a lot of new things though the summer and my teacher said that I’m ready for a competition. Wish me luck for at least 3rd place. J

Organizational meeting

On 10.10.11 we had meeting with the charity group in our school in which I’m participating. We planned our next campaign. We had some argues but in the end everything was ok and we are going to collect clothes for the kids which live in the foster’s home in Balvan, which is a  village next to Veliko Tarnovo.

First meeting for 2011-2012

On 4th October we had our first meeting. I was very excited because we made our plans for our last year together. We have a lot of interesting things to do this time. I will post my planning page J

Trip to Varna

After Balchik we went to Varna, which is one of the biggest and the most beautiful city in Bulgaria. We did not visit any museum , because we decided to relax on the beach. My classmates and I first went for some shopping and after that we went to the central beach. It was sunny day, but it was still cold to go inside the water. However this was not a problem for one of my friends, who decided to risk and go inside :D After that she was freezing ( which was expected) so we went to the hotel. After dinner the people who were over 18 went out to a club. This was the perfect day, full of relax, laugh, friendship and partying : ) : ) : )

Balchik

After our jorney to Kavarna we set off to Balchik. There we stayed in one hotel  which was really close to the beach. Unfortunately in was too cold to go inside the sea, but we still could go to the beach  : )
We were very tired from the long traveling so we went early to bed. On the next day we got up early in the morning and went to the Botanical Garden of Balchik. This is one of my most favourite places in Bulgaria. This garden is made on the territories of the ex- garden of the Romanian Queen - Maria. I had been in this garden few times but everytime when I go i feel really good and interested. I adore flowers and this is the place which is full of them.

Trip to Kavarna

On 25th May early in the morning we started our jorney. It was really long trip - we stayed in the bus for 4 hours, but our teacher made sure that we would have fun and she was prepared for us a karioke competitions. We sang and laughed all the way to Kavarna. When we finally arrived in the city I was a little bit dissapointed because I expected to see a big new city , but it turned out that it is more like a village. However, we went to the monument of the famous Dio ( here it is an additional information about this famous heavy metal vocalist and songwriter : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_James_Dio ) and instead of flowers we decided to put ballons on the monument. I felt really excited and we had a lot of fun when we were inflating the ballons. So far our trip was what I expected - Interesting and Funny : ) : ) :)

" The party"

On 9th May we visited the local theater. There was a play , called " The Party " , made by students and It was based on real case. I expected something really good , but after 30 minutes I felt so disappointed. The actors weren’t good at all and the play like all was not made good. So I made something  which now I consider like stupid move… I just stand and go out. I know that I was wrong but after all why should I stay on something which annoys me.

Decorating the hall and saying goodbye to the seniors

On 2nd May we made a some performance to say last goodbye to our graduators. The other IB students and I decorated the auditorium. We put a lot of balloons all over the school. We made the other students to stood on the stairs 0where the seniors were supposed to go through and each student gave them a rose or another kind of flower. After that there were some sketches and of course speeches from their favorite teacher. The big surprise was the movie which we made for them. The organization was perfect and everything went on well. In the end I saw a lot of people crying – from happiness or from sadness, which was one of the main purposes – to touch their hearts.

Donating books

On 21st April my clasmates and I went to the local library to give the books, which we had collected. I was really surprised of the library. We went to the smaller one but in fact it was huge. As we entered I felt the smell of old books. I adore that smell. The lady there didn’t expect that we will give her books. When you see that you make someone happy- I don’t think that there is bigger prize for you. I really can’t explain the feeling. It has no equal to it.

Painting eggs in the Retirment's home

<>

On the Great Thursday women paint the eggs. The first one is always painted in red. The cheeks of the children are rubbed with it for health. It is believed that the red Easter egg has curing powers. One of the eggs has to be left in front of the icon and stays there for the rest of the year. The Easter eggs can be eaten till Spasovden. The painting of the eggs is done by the hostess of the house and until the red paint finishes she has to be alone in the room. Eggs can be also made by writing on them. There are some specific instruments used for this. For instance there is vitriola- a feather from eagle. The feathers are dipped in melted wax and the women write on the eggs before they put them in the paint. The areas covered with wax remain uncolored and this is how the written egg is made.
So we decided to keep the tradition alive and we went on 19th April to the retirement’s home to paint eggs with them. It was fun thing to do. I really liked this activity and we made some really beautiful eggs. The women gave to each of us one egg with a beautiful cup made of them. I was really glad that we kept the tradition of painting eggs alive.

Open Day

On 22nd March we had as we call it “Open day”. This is a special day when everyone can come to our school and see what we are doing, how we are studying.  We (IB class) were in the library, in the creativity class. We painted eggs with water colors.  There was and professional photographer who took pictures of us and our eggs. It was really fun thing to do and to the end of the day I was covered with paint :D

Cause for everyone

On 19th March was our charity concert. As I told you in the previous

post it was a competition and of course WE WON! There were

some really good performs from the other schools, but we have a

student who dance AWSOME! After his dance all of the people

stand  and shout as they can. It was really cool . In the end our

teacher went on the stage and said that the money will go to

Japan. It was a little disappointing because the woman knew that if

we win we will give her the money. But one of my classmates and I

think to collect money from our schoolmates and to give her what

we have.

Selling tickets

On 14th March my classmates and I had to sell tickets for our charity concert which will take place on 17th March. It will be a competition between 4 schools. Each school has to pick up a charity idea. We decided that if we win we will give the money to a woman who needs an eye operation. She is a woman from the retirement’s home which we are visiting often. Her story is really sad. She has 2 sons who lost her apartment on hazard game and she had nowhere to live so she went to the retirement’s home. But now she has a problem with her eyes and if she doesn’t make an operation soon she will become blind.

SO I hope that we will win so we can help her.

STREET PARADE

Finally was 22nd ( the holiday of Veliko Tarnovo). After school my classmates and I went to kind of theme park. We went to the Gondola. I will NEVER go to this again. It was awful , I was SOOOO scared and when it stopped I didn’t have voice to speak ( imagine how much I shouted :D) After that we had to be in front of the municipality to give the color papers. In the same time there was a concert. There were some friends of mine singing. It was really cool. I had really good mood! I was just going around singing and giving the papers. After that we had to go to “Carevec” . We let hundreds of paper lanterns to burn in the sky. It was my first time doing this and I was really excited. I will definitely do it again the next year.

The three musketeers :)

On 10th March I visited the theater play “The three musketeers”. I had to go only with one of my classmates because in the same time my friends were making me a great surprise for my birthday and they used the time when  I’m not at home :D ( I didn’t know this then and I was really pissed of that I had to go on my own :D )

The play was FANTASTIC. I really loved it. The performers were absolutely good and the play was great. I hadn’t been on good play for long time.  I’m looking forward for the next theatre.

Instructions for the Street Parade

We had to go to the municipality on 9th March because the city’s PR called us to tell us what we have to do on 22nd. He told us that we are going to give colorful papers with cool texts like “Listen to your heart”, “Call someone you haven’t heard from recently”. He told us that we have to be in front of the municipality at 5 o’clock and after that at 8 o’clock in front of “Carevec” which is a historical monument.

While we was in the hall I was quite nervous. All of the kids were talking and I could hear what the PR is talking about. B

I can’t wait 22nd to come J J J

Baba Marta's Day :)

On 1st of March there is a tradition to give martenici to your friends family or to whoever you want. We went in school at 7.30 to wait for all of the students. We gave each one of them martenitsa. We started their day in a really good way I think J
After school we went to the retirement’s home. We had prepared a little show for them. Some of us played on piano and other told the history of the holiday. After that we gave to the people the martenici which we had made. They were really happy about it and some of them were even crying.
The boss of the home let us to go into some rooms where people who can’t stand from the bed live. It was really sad picture. But they were absolutely happy, because they said that almost nobody goes to them.

Newspaper ''Borba'' - an article about our work in the creativity class

http://www.borbabg.com/?action=news&news=10628

Martenitsci

Martenitsa is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and worn from March 1 until around the end of March (or the first time an individual sees a stork, swallow, or budding tree). The name of the holiday is Baba Marta. "Baba" (баба) is the Bulgarian word for "grandmother" and Mart (март) is the Bulgarian word for the month of March. Baba Marta is a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the upcoming spring. The month of March, according to Bulgarian folklore, marks the beginning of springtime. Therefore, the first day of March is a traditional holiday associated with sending off winter and welcoming spring. ( wikipedia)

We decided to make martenitsci by ourselves. Ms. Patercheva gave me the materials and I made them home because I run out of time in school. I felt really good when making them because I knew that I will make the people in the retirement home to feel loved and appreciated. :) The making didn’t took me long time just a hour and it was really fun thing to do !

Saint Valentine's Day :)

On St. Valentine’s Day we had the special permission to be without uniforms in school J It was really strange to me because this was my first time wearing whatever I want in school.
We had ordered special angel’s wings. In the beginning of the 3rd class we went through all the classrooms and gave the valentine’s cards. It was really nice to see how your schoolmates are smiling.  But there were and pissed off. Because I gave a valentine to one girl and it was anonymous and her boyfriend who was sitting next to her said that he hadn’t sent her one. Yes it was a little bit confusing.
At 12.30 we went to the municipality where one of our schoolmates read a greeting message for St. Valentine’s Day.  Then we were surprised when the mare of Veliko Tarnovo – Dr Rumen Rashev accepted an award from ‘’the voice’’ radio station. They announced Veliko Tarnovo for the most romantic town in Bulgaria.  After the official part we went through all the floors and gave each person a valentine card.
But this wasn’t the end. After that we went to the Yantra’s office. ( our city’s newspaper) They were really excited when we entered with our big smiles and wings :D
No matter that my boyfriend was away from me on that day I felt really good, because I made other people happy and we made them feel loved!

Newspaper

On 7th February we were selling the new edition of our school newspaper. We had a lot of argues while doing it, because there were some people who were late with their articles and everyone was annoyed and angry all the time. For the first time I didn’t enjoy doing the newspaper.
But the edition by itself was s pretty good one. Branimira made the whole newspaper using Photoshop. She took our pictures and made us like angels, because the newspaper was all about love (and alcohol)
We sold about 40 copies from it which I think is good.

Making valentine's cards

On 7th February my classmates and I were selling valentine’s cards. We made 3 different types and the students could choose which one they want. We offered them that we could give it to the person who they like or love or to their favourite teacher from their name or if they wanted they could just buy the card. We sold a lot of cards but there were few which where anonymous and we had to give them to the chosen person.  I understood that there are some couples in our school and that there are some people who like somebody but they are afraid to tell them.  I think that we made good thing with this campaign because we made a lot of people to feel loved and appreciated. I could feel  love in the air!

Second term planning page

On 3rd February we had CAS meeting. We had to finish our planning pages. We had some argues but in the end everything went well. Here is my planning page for the second term:
