Instructions for the Street Parade

We had to go to the municipality on 9th March because the city’s PR called us to tell us what we have to do on 22nd. He told us that we are going to give colorful papers with cool texts like “Listen to your heart”, “Call someone you haven’t heard from recently”. He told us that we have to be in front of the municipality at 5 o’clock and after that at 8 o’clock in front of “Carevec” which is a historical monument.

While we was in the hall I was quite nervous. All of the kids were talking and I could hear what the PR is talking about. B

I can’t wait 22nd to come J J J

Baba Marta's Day :)

On 1st of March there is a tradition to give martenici to your friends family or to whoever you want. We went in school at 7.30 to wait for all of the students. We gave each one of them martenitsa. We started their day in a really good way I think J
After school we went to the retirement’s home. We had prepared a little show for them. Some of us played on piano and other told the history of the holiday. After that we gave to the people the martenici which we had made. They were really happy about it and some of them were even crying.
The boss of the home let us to go into some rooms where people who can’t stand from the bed live. It was really sad picture. But they were absolutely happy, because they said that almost nobody goes to them.

Martenitsci

Martenitsa is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and worn from March 1 until around the end of March (or the first time an individual sees a stork, swallow, or budding tree). The name of the holiday is Baba Marta. "Baba" (баба) is the Bulgarian word for "grandmother" and Mart (март) is the Bulgarian word for the month of March. Baba Marta is a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the upcoming spring. The month of March, according to Bulgarian folklore, marks the beginning of springtime. Therefore, the first day of March is a traditional holiday associated with sending off winter and welcoming spring. ( wikipedia)

We decided to make martenitsci by ourselves. Ms. Patercheva gave me the materials and I made them home because I run out of time in school. I felt really good when making them because I knew that I will make the people in the retirement home to feel loved and appreciated. :) The making didn’t took me long time just a hour and it was really fun thing to do !

Saint Valentine's Day :)

On St. Valentine’s Day we had the special permission to be without uniforms in school J It was really strange to me because this was my first time wearing whatever I want in school.
We had ordered special angel’s wings. In the beginning of the 3rd class we went through all the classrooms and gave the valentine’s cards. It was really nice to see how your schoolmates are smiling.  But there were and pissed off. Because I gave a valentine to one girl and it was anonymous and her boyfriend who was sitting next to her said that he hadn’t sent her one. Yes it was a little bit confusing.
At 12.30 we went to the municipality where one of our schoolmates read a greeting message for St. Valentine’s Day.  Then we were surprised when the mare of Veliko Tarnovo – Dr Rumen Rashev accepted an award from ‘’the voice’’ radio station. They announced Veliko Tarnovo for the most romantic town in Bulgaria.  After the official part we went through all the floors and gave each person a valentine card.
But this wasn’t the end. After that we went to the Yantra’s office. ( our city’s newspaper) They were really excited when we entered with our big smiles and wings :D
No matter that my boyfriend was away from me on that day I felt really good, because I made other people happy and we made them feel loved!

Newspaper

On 7th February we were selling the new edition of our school newspaper. We had a lot of argues while doing it, because there were some people who were late with their articles and everyone was annoyed and angry all the time. For the first time I didn’t enjoy doing the newspaper.
But the edition by itself was s pretty good one. Branimira made the whole newspaper using Photoshop. She took our pictures and made us like angels, because the newspaper was all about love (and alcohol)
We sold about 40 copies from it which I think is good.

Making valentine's cards

On 7th February my classmates and I were selling valentine’s cards. We made 3 different types and the students could choose which one they want. We offered them that we could give it to the person who they like or love or to their favourite teacher from their name or if they wanted they could just buy the card. We sold a lot of cards but there were few which where anonymous and we had to give them to the chosen person.  I understood that there are some couples in our school and that there are some people who like somebody but they are afraid to tell them.  I think that we made good thing with this campaign because we made a lot of people to feel loved and appreciated. I could feel  love in the air!
